Note the museum is closed on all Sundays and all University Holidays.

Please note: The Museum will be closed on July 4th and will reopen on July 5th.

The museum is located in Smith Hall on the University of Alabama campus. The street address is 427 Sixth Avenue, Tuscaloosa, AL 35487.

Sensory Room

The Alabama Museum of Natural History is thrilled to be able to provide a safe space, known as The Sensory Sea, for children (and adults) to enjoy! With The Sensory Sea, the museum ensures that it is an accessible and inclusive place for everyone. Located on the mezzanine level of the museum, The Sensory Sea, provides visitors with a low-light, quiet, sensory-friendly space where they can decompress. This space includes fidget toys, wobble seats, educational books, noise blocking headphones, bubble light tubes, and various sensory objects/toys to help alleviate stress.

Group Tours (Registration Required)

Please call Research Outreach Coordinator, Madeline Burkhardt, at (205) 348-9482 to schedule a group tour or lab experience. Group tour prices include admission to the museum.

  • Guided Tour (10 or more): $5 per Adult, $3 per K-12 Student
  • Discovery Tour: $3 per K-12 Student
  • Discovery Lab Experience: $5 per K-12 Student
