George Martin to receive the Alabama Avocational Paleontologist Award
Alabama has a fantastic fossil record and many important fossils have been discovered by avocational (amateur/hobby) paleontologists. In 2020, a new award was created by The University of Alabama Museums honoring an avocational paleontologist who has made substantial contributions to paleontology in Alabama.

Haunting at the Museum
The Alabama Museum of Natural History will be co-hosting Haunting at the Museum with the Gorgas House Museum on October 24-28, 2022.
Marble Bowl
This year, to excite everyone’s inner scientist, an Alabama Cooperative Extension System expert aims to bring the gridiron competition of the Iron Bowl into the realm of citizen science. Dubbed the Marble Bowl, this unique contest allows Auburn and Alabama football fans to compete all season in their local ecosystems.
