Summer Trips and Day Camps

Discover the enjoyment of visiting the hidden wonders of Alabama’s rich natural and cultural heritage. Museum staff guide participants to some of the most interesting and scenic places that our wonderful state has to offer. All trips are fun and informative.

The Museum furnishes transportation and most equipment.

The field trips are designed for students, adults, families (children must have completed 4th grade to come unaccompanied).

Teachers can earn up to 8 professional development hours for each session.

Our trip schedule for Summer 2019 will be posted later this year, but in the meantime here is last summer’s schedule to give you a better idea of the trips we offer.

June

3-8 – Museum Expedition Middle School Week – $395; registration required
10-15 – Museum Expedition High School Week – $395; registration required

July

12 – Sharks Tooth Creek fossil hunting trip, $30, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, ages 10 and up

13 – Bear Creek canoe trip, $30, 8:00 am – 6:30 pm, ages 12 and up

15 – Sharks Tooth Creek fossil hunting trip, $30, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, ages 10 and up

16 – Little Cahaba River tubing trip, $30, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, ages 10 and up

18 – North River canoe trip, $30, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, ages 10 and up

19 – Coosa River canoe trip, $30, 8:00 am – 6:30 pm, ages 12 and up

20 – Sharks Tooth Creek fossil hunting trip, $30, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, ages 10 and up

22-26 – Science Day Camp, $175, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm each day, 5th-8th graders

27 – Bama Bug Fest, 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm, all ages, free event at Warner Transportation Museum

30 – Little Cahaba River tubing trip, $30, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, ages 10 and up

August

3 – Sharks Tooth Creek fossil hunting trip, $30, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, ages 10 and up

10 – Cane Creek Canyon hiking trip, $30, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, ages 10 and up
