Homeschool Days

Registration is required. To register, please call 205-348-6383. Programs are limited to 20 students.

Cost: Admission to Homeschool Days is $15. The $15 fee covers one child’s participation and includes a visit to the museum. There is no cost for adults/educators to participate. Parents/guardians may explore the museum or grounds with younger siblings during the program time. Children under 5 are free.

Programs by Month

September

  • Design Maker Workshop – Animal Inventions (Ages 8-11)
    • Description: Do you have a pet or know someone who does? Do you like animals? How could you create a better way to care for a pet or help animals on a farm, at the zoo, or in the wild? Use your imagination to design something new in the maker space during the Design Squad Maker workshop series! In this workshop, you’ll learn steps in the design process while designing and creating something to help our furry friends.

November

  • Art in Nature Workshop (Ages 5-8)
    • Description: Join the ALMNH and artist Kate Walker to explore art from nature. In this workshop, students will learn how to use objects found in nature to create amazing works of art.

December

  • Design Maker Workshop – Biomimicry Design Challenge (Ages 12-18)
    • Description: In this Design Squad Maker workshop, students will learn about biomimicry – a method in which nature inspires new inventions to solve real-world problems. Working in teams, students will design their own invention using biomimicry to address an issue in their school, home, or community.
