The University of Alabama will be closed on June 19, 2023 for Juneteenth so we have some museum closures.

This summer, the Alabama Museum of Natural History is offering drop-in activities that are free with admission for Grades K-5!

The Alabama Museum of Natural History will be closed on Saturday, May 27, 2023 for the Memorial Day Weekend. The museum will reopen on Tuesday, May 30, 2023.

Naming species and putting them into their correct place in the family tree is essential in biology and paleontology.

Our Museum Fossil Excursion Day Trips travel to the Black Belt of Alabama in search of vertebrate and invertebrate fossils from the Cretaceous Age.

Fossil Camp is a summer camp for students in grades 4-7 who are interested in learning all about fossils. Interactive lessons, fossils digs, guest speakers, and arts & crafts.

On Saturday, April 8, 2023, the Alabama Museum of Natural History and the Alabama Paleontological Society will be hosting a free fossil Track Meet from 11 am until 3:30 pm. During this event, paleontologists will be bringing in fossil trackways, fossil invertebrates, and fossil plants found in mines and other places from Alabama’s Coal Age for temporary display and photography on tables in the Grand Gallery of Smith Hall.
