A new exhibit is flying to the Alabama Museum of Natural History. The Buzz about Bees is a collaborative exhibit with the Alabama Museum of Natural History, the West Alabama Beekeepers Association, and the UA Bee Club. Fossil Excursion, formerly Shark’s Tooth Creek Fossils, is one of the museum’s most popular summer field trips. We travel to the Black Belt of Alabama in search of vertebrate and invertebrate fossils from the Cretaceous Age. Participants should be prepared to get wet and muddy as we wed through shallow streams to collect sharks teeth and other marine fossils from streambed gravel deposits. 16 spaces available – $30/person *All participants age 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult [...]

Splash through class I and II rapids on a five-mile stretch of river flowing through northwest Alabama near Haleyville. Enjoy your picnic lunch on the rock bluffs at Factory Falls and watch as other canoeists float through the rapids. Float on an inner tube down a shallow stretch of the Little Cahaba River and splashdown rapids below limestone outcroppings.
